i havent had this problem all the time. happened when a wire blew off of my starter selinoid. fixed it and has run rich ever since. just found one of the MAS wires was broken.

Yeah, if your 88 is a California car then it had Mass Air from the factory. If you need a stock replacement, I have a stocker Mass Air meter I'll sell you for really cheap if you need one. Shoot me a PM if interested.

The reman. number on the computer may as well be in greek. I can't make anything of that.
When you ordered the computer, what vehicle did you request a computer for???

I believe the MAS is an earlier version of the F1ZF sensor, which would be for a Fox MAF Mustang.
You should be able to buy a new F1ZF MAS, and get the car running.

The F1ZF can be found on other vehicles, like the mid 90's Taurus. As long as it is an F1ZF and 55mm tube, it will work.

Have you considered looking for a 94-95 Mustang MAF?
With an adapter on the inlet side of the MAF (~ $35-$50), you can run a Ford quality 70mm MAF...
