Just got a Pwermaster starter!!!!!!!

hi, i wanted a high torque starter for my stang. i got one today, there isnt really anyhitng wrong with my stock started i just wanted something that would crank it spuer fast for very quick starts. i got this powermaster mini torque starter, it has 4.40 to 1 gear reduction. it is for up to 18:1 compression. It should spin my mtor over like hellaciously fast right? the motor is stock and stock 9:1 compression. what do u guys think? i need inputs, thanks a lot!!! oh and its got 200 foot pounds of torque!i cant wait to get this baby in!thanks agian

MAYBE IF YOU ARE STREET RACING AND ARE ABOUT TO LOOSE TO A CIVIC CRX TURBO YOU CAN USE YOUR STARTER AS NAAWWWWZZZ....

i don't think it will spin it over faster if anything slower but it will do it a whole lot easier just because of the gear reduction

since you asked, I have to tell you that you wasted your money on a racing starter for a stock engine. You could probably have bought several new stock starters for the price you paid for the one "high torque" one you have now. you really didn't need it at all!

holy ****.. 18:1 compression? what the hell do you plan on doing with your car? turning it into a pro stock methanol injected funny car?

4.4:1 gear reduction? that thing is going to spin like mad... thats the final drive of my 5 speed... holy crap. lol

you don't know much about drag racing do you?? you have got three different classes mixed up there and the Pro Stock is the only one that runs the really high compression ratios as the others are blown and injected and use lower static compression ratios down around 6:1 or so since they get so much boost from the superchargers they use.

BTW, gear reduction implies the speed is slower not faster but the torque is higher due to the slower speed

he could have got a high torque starter for pep boy for like 15.00 more than stock.......it doesn't have the gear reducion though..but you don't need it..
