I believe the coil could still put out spark, becasue the power from the battery goes to the coil, then from the coil to the dizzy, which then goes to each plug, so yes I believe the coil can put out spark.

i had a buddy of mine check to see if he got any spark by disconecting the dist. and he said nothing happened. can i just turn the crank till #1 reaches it compression point and place the rotor facing #1 or do i have to place the cylinder to its comp. point then adjust till the dampner reads TDC???????[&:]

Rotate the engine until #1 cylinder ison its compression stroke. Then rotate the engine until the piston is about TDC compression and line up the TDC mark on the Balancerwith theTDC or 0mark on the timing tab. Then you can drop the distributor in with the rotor pointing to where you want the number one plug wire tower to be.

the thing im having a problem with is that i have the ford racing dampner and it has no TDC mark on it just a gap between retard and advanced. also the block is from 1974 and im not sure if the firing order is the same as the 84 and up 5.0's
