Default MAF conversion questions

Im very new to this...my 88 stang convertibleis untouched. I want to add a full exhaust, cold air and possibly a throttle body. I dont wanna go crazy because this is a beautiful original car....I've been told my car will not run right unless I do a MAF conversion. Is there any truth to this?????? Thanks

as of now all i have is exhaust, it says full, but thats cuz i planed on buying headers by now, but havent... need to change the sig, i only have an off rd h-pipe, and dumped super 40s.

plans are, in order...

suspension(rear lower control arms, uppers soon after, eibach drag springs, 50/50 shocks, and strange 10 way struts)
then a dry shot of nitrous(75 shot), this is just to keep me happy while i save for....
kenne bell blower.

after that i wanna build a 327 stroker and put the blower on it... but this is gonna take a few years, lol.

should have the kenne bell by this time next year or sooner tho... probly sooner

and my rear gears are stock 3.08s, im gonna keep them

The main reason people prefer a Mass Air car over a Speed Density is because of the way the Mass Air cars computer can compensate betterfor certainmodifications. The Mass Air cars leave room for error when tuning and will self correct to an extentwhere as a Speed Density cars tunehas to pretty much be right on for each new mod. Also, I wouldnt say that a Mass Air car is less complicated to tune, but I would say that the Mass Air car givesa tunermorecontrol over your engine and is a smarter system. Bottom line is if your a tuner or wannbe you can make speed density work if your just starting out a Mass Air car is less work to mod.
