Default car wont heat up

since ive owned the car, the temp gauge has never read anything above 130. recently replaced the temp sensor, flushed radiator and block, and i have a new thermostat in it. what would cause it to not heat up, unless i replaced the wrong sensor. the one i replaced was to the left of the motor, behind the distributor in a pipe. i can see a similar sensor somewhat under the intake manifold. did i replace the wrong one? or could it be something else. thanks in advance

EDIT: forgot to mention i do have normal heat.

Yeah, the one you replaced is the ect sensor for the ecm. The temp gauge sensor is on the d/s of the intake and has a 1 wire hook up for it.

yep sounds like the sensor of the gauge to me.

the sensor that feeds to dash gauge
is on driver side front corner of lower intake manifold.
and has one wire going to it NOT a big plastic wire harness plug.
