When i was replacing my alt the other day i noticed something and i didnt know what it was or did. if you look straight down from your stock airfilter there is a small black box that has two inlets in it....only one on mine had a hose coming out of it and it went from that box into the firewall really close to the passenger fender. what is it? it is part of the smog system or what? can i take it out? i dont have picks but hopefully i described it well enough

 

Its the evap canister. I have done away with mine. You have a vac live that goes to the intake make sure to plug it off.
