Default Starter Question

I am about to go to buy a new starter. I am going to upgrade to the 92-95 5.0 mini starter. I've seen the diagram for running a new wire from the original solenoid and moving the original over to the constant 12v side of the solenoid. This may be a stupid question, but that is why i am asking. Instead of running a new wire to the starter, could you just jumpa wire from one side of the solenoid on the new starter to the other side, then hook up the original wire to one side of the solenoid on the new starter? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I just did the jumper way on my car and it seems to make the starter hang momentarily. My friend standing next to the car says it makes funny *** noises.

Do you think having 2 solenoids on the same circuit could cause this
