Default car running too cold...

I replace my thermostat to 180* in the summer and the needle would run at the A or the M on Normal, Now its winter and my car tuns 1 notch lower on the L, in the winter, and it takes forever for it to warm up, what should I do? is it better that it runs colder or what?

It'll use more gas if it runs cold. It sounds like the thermostat to me. Does it get colder when your moving? Might have gotten a bad thermo or coolant is getting buy some how.
