Braking issues with disc conversion
NEED HELP! I just installed a 306 supercharged motor with a medium size cam. I am finding that at idle my car is only producing about 8" of vacuum and cant hold the brakes. I have ordered a vacuum canister but is this going to do me any good. If now what are your suggestions. I installed the SSBC A112-1 4 lug conversion kit. While driving they are ok not the best but at idle or slow moving sucks and barely stops vehicle. Would it be to much to install a electric vacuum pump on the booster?

Check your vacuum lines to your brake booster. Do you hear a hissing noise when you push on the brake? Even with a medium cam it should be running more than 8Hg. How much vacuum was it producing before the conversion?

I am really not sure never checked it. I did all this work to the car at one time. The performance shop checked all the lines and can find no leakes. I am running a 306 supercharged motor with a trick flow cam. While driving they are not that bad but at idle or slow speed it will barely stop. I just got off the phone with SSBC and they said that I will need to run a electric vacuum pump just hate to keep spending money if that is not what I need. I am running a boost guage as well which runs off of vacuum

this happend to my buddies 306 he had a bad *** cam in it and setup blew the motor because the cam was to far advanced the valves are opening to early causeing the cylinders not to make the vacume needed to stop plus if it is that advance that you are only makin 8Hg of vacume its bad off to the point you are going to throw a valve into a piston
