Default 92 5.0 LX Alignment

I am hoping someone here can help me with this. The front tires on my 92 5.0 LX keep wearing on the inside. Tire life has been @ 10,000 miles. I buy a set of tires and have the font end aligned in the spring. By late fall I can see uneven wear. I have taken it to various places for alignment including the local pirate Ford dealer. They all say everything is OK and that I should just get an alignment every 1500 miles !! Yeh , I guess I must look REALLY stupid. I did not have this problem at first. The original tires went 50-60 thousand miles ( cant remember exactly ). I live in New Hampshire and no one is a "motor head " like back in Michigan ( which I still call home ). So, is this a common problem or am I just cursed. Thanks, Burke

also...as simple as it sounds...keep up with the rotate and balance...if ya don't at least rotate your tires....it will kill em just like you are describing

I guess I always figured to rotate tires every 10,000 or so, which basically means once a year for this ragtop. Maybe I'll have to start doing it every 5,000. I cant turn em around on the rim because most of the tires Iv'e gotten were directional. Iv'e always have the guys inspecting ( yuck ) or doing the alignment to check it good for anything thats worn. I guess I was wondering if this car had a common bushing problem or something else that would cause this problem. I still got a few months before I can get it out on the road. Looks like it'll be new tires, alignment and lots of rotation. Burke

break the tires down off the rim and rotate the tires side to side...that away, you will still be going the same direction, and you can wear out the other side and get more life....unless you have belts already hanging out....

They are probably just adjusting toe and not adjusting your camber when they do an alignment. Next time you get an alignment ask that they adjust the camber and caster as well even though they will probably charge extra.

true....when we get busy...we go what is called "set the toe and go" saves a lot of time, but doesn't align it perfectly

Is the car lowered. That would explain the neg camber problem. (wear on the inside) Or the toe would have to be really far out but you would see/feel it on the road.

You all have some good ideas. I will take your advise 87BlackSnake. That alone would double my tire life. The last five years I have been very clear about what is going on. Iv'e showed them the car with the warn tires and had em do the alignment with new and worn tires. I'll make sure they check / adjust the camber next time. This 92 5.0 LX Conv. is about as stock as they come / came. 12000 miles and the only things I've done have been maintenance really ( plugs, wires, brakes, tires, tires, serpentine belt , Edelbrok Cat back exhaust and a new top). and tires.
