anybody got 'em?
at a car show the other night i saw an old stingray vette with short headers coming out the hood and extending like 8-10 inches above it.
thinking about doing the same to my mustang ('92 LX) now, cause the sound of that was killer and it looked really nice. got a few questions about it though, anybody here got that done to their car?
i know that in no way will my car be legal, but that's not a problem.
where can you find these headers?
any idea what it would cost to fabricate the hood to accomidate them?
should i leave them chrome, or do them matte black? (cars navy blue)
would any fumes get inside the car somehow?
and do you think it would be "too" loud? (even though i'm a believer that a car can never be too loud if it sounds nice)
any other problems i might run into?
oh, and i dont want to hear all this junk about "reduced backpressure blah blah blah" i know.

RE: anybody got 'em?
that is more of a show thing. i dont even believe you can run at the track like that. a backfire at 100mph would not be good.
there are no kits to do that, all of that is custom made.

RE: anybody got 'em?
no reason for this?
i dont mean to sound like a dick saying that or whatever. i just thought it was a neat idea for a show car. i dont take this car to the track, have a ws6 (criticize it all you want)as a track car, the 5.0 is just something i'm looking at making look and sound really nice for shows, and i have no experience whatsoever in headers, theyve always been installed for me, so i'm clueless as to why it would be such a horrible idea. appreciate your opinions, good or bad

If anything, besides show, it's only somewhat useful for motors that are putting out some huge power numbers (notice how drag cars and funny cars have the pipes sticking pretty much out of the engine bay). You would loose animmense amount of back pressure by doing so and it's going to smell like *** when ever you are driving it.
