you should still be able to twist the hose to get more room. that style clamp is meant to hold it from going over the flare at the end of the tube, its not very tight on the hose itself.

I dunno....pliers kind of suck....I'd break out the torch....get yourself about a 3 foot flame going and let er rip! If that does'nt work try the saws-all
