Default timing chain

ok guys, I think Im gonna buy a small project car.

The car needs a new timing chain. I've never had to do this before, so how hard is it and how much time should I allow for the project? I'm decently mechanically inclined.

Let me know fellas.

scale of 1-10, timing chains on this motor are about a 6. should take about 1 1/2 hours with hand tools.

Let me know ASAP so I can get this stuff ordered!!!

Matt, I'd like to see that one.

Get some RTV ultra black silicone sealer.

I would have to agree with pro50sc. I took mine apart when I put my cam in, and just taking the timing chain cover off took hell of a lot longer than 1.5 hours.

yeah Im planning on dedicating an entire day to the project just to play it safe.

Can I just make sure that the timing chain goes back on the EXACT way it comes off? Will there be anything wrong with using this method?

thanks for everything fellas

You could try that, but its real easy to be a tooth off which will throw things out of whack. Better to just crank the engine to line up the dots.
