My car seems to "use" a lot of oil...almost a quart in 2-3 weeks. I use 5w30, but might try 10w40 to see if that helps....any thoughts?

no one listen to this guy using 20w50 is just killing his bearings on every cold start....
5w is really good for our people up north...using a synthetic really is a must for better cold start flow of oil....10w30 otherwise..going with a too thick oil hurts horsepower as well the 0w conventional oil might be needed in really cold weather like Canada's winter's...

as for the guy using oil and adding every few days, you have blow by as your engine has a fair amount of wear and 10w30 would be what I would try

hell i am running 20w 50 cause i live in the south and just for that extra protection it doesnt bother me saying that yeah it is thicker and all but i would rather be safe than sorry

Amen.....I also live in the south, been running 5w30 or 10w30 (whatever API approved brand is on sale) for 16 yrs.....tried the 20w50 once, andhad tochange it1-week after.FYI, Ford has a TSB regarding oil grades, with the only exception being some modular engines (5w20 required).....5w30 or 10w30 is what they "recommend".......
