Priming a Fox
Hello,
I have an 89 Fox GT... And I want to prime the body.... I want to know if I can do this myself or if a shop has to do it... If I can do it, what are the steps required to do a good job...
By the way, the car is painted right now, So do I need to sand the existing paint.... Please let me know.

1st step wash the car then wipe it down with silicone wax and grease remover. tape up all the trim so u dont ruin it scuff it up with some 320 or 400 grit paper blow it off wipe it down with wax and grease remover again then tack it off then prime thats it in a simplified nutshell
but remember that primer absorbs water so anywhere u go bare will have surface rust in short order an epoxy primer shoule be used over top of a surfacing primer if u plan on keep it that way for a while to hold off on the rust

You dont need to prime the whole car, just the repair areas need primer.
For areas that are ok just wetsand them down with 1000 grit sandpaper before painting. Basically that just takes off the clearcoat.
