ok the car has two noises a rattle and awhistle... the smog pump thing might be the rattle... the whistle not sure.. i turned my car on and listened closely and it has both.. but the rattle seems to be coming from under the car.. fix one thing the other goes bad[:@]

I had a similar noise like that but it wasn't as loud but it ended up being the idler pully rubbing against the tensioner arm. It ended up digging right in and seizing up after I while. Thats how I ended up finding out.

That whistle is inside the intake. Dont worry about it.
Its cuased from random swirling on the intake flow flowing
over some protusion in the air stream.
VERY common, specially with BBK throttle bodies.
You can try and look in there and see if you can smooth
out the intake run from any bumps or casting flash, might help
Had this same noise with my BBK SSI intake.
hmmmmm. take that back
since its coming out the exhaust too thats VERY worrying.
you should NOT hear a noise like that coming out of the tail pipes too................

mine whistles too i have the rpm performer and a 65 mm it only seems to whistle a 8" of vacumewhen i am like 3/4 throttle it sounds like it is coming from the fender where my filter is

Does it burn oil(alot) and idle rough...I hope not..
Mine did and it was worn valve guides allowing unmetered air to pass by and that was causing the whistle.
