eh i bought an 89 like that (speed density) and me and my dad changed distributor cap and rotor button, spark plugs, air filter, and basically a tune up and it helped it a good bit. BTW spray the hell out of your throttle linkage and the gas pedal with WD-40. hope it helps

One thing I did to my stang that made a huge difference before I put her away for the winter was changing the cap, rotor, wires, plugs, and adjust the TPS to .99v. WOW, big big difference. The throttle was real snappy after that.

When was the last time you did a tune up?

Have you adjusted the voltage on the TPS? Also, is the throttle response just delayed or is it bogging down and then taking off?

Did someone change it over to a speed density, cuz otherwise it was an MAF

The TPS adjustment made a big difference on my car. As well you might want to look into getting a better coil, or an entire ignition system if you have the money, that will help out alot as well. Cleaning the injectors might help as well (Don't know for a fact but I would think it would help out).
