Yeah, I'm gonna keep on doin' what I've always done best -sell ****. I start my new job on the 19th of this month and the pay should be pretty good. It's outside the automotive world, but I do believe in the product, so I'm sure I can sell it. I'll elaborate more on SCF once I get started, or just PM ya' about it...or talk over a beer.

I'm gonna start searching for a 351W and see what turns up. I don't care what everyone says about the LS-1 being the bomb. I know for a fact I can build a TT setup on a Ford motor for a few thousand dollars cheaper than doin' the LS-1 swap. Should run well on the MSII system, and in a 2800lb car, I imagine it'll be pretty damned fun.

351's are pretty common motors, trucks and vasn had em, as well as some cars. IT is a much better platform to start from, and since your swapping motors anyway why not? The 94+ 351 blocks have roller lifters, if that is something you are interested in. 4-500 WHP wouldnt be a problem at all for a 351 block
This is good information to know! Now I can be specific in my searching for a motor. Would you be afraid of boosting a stock motor with 60k mi. or less?

It still baffles me that the 302 splits @ around 500whp, since the silly little 2.4L truck motor I currently run has been proven to withstand up to around 750whp through and auto trans before splitting. What exactly is the cause of these 302's splitting at such a low hp rating?

Hell truth be known you could get a Dart block and swap the stock internals to it and still be under the cost of the ls1 swap.

I'd prefer roller. I may not be able to purchase anything for another month or two, whatwith the new job status and all. However, I'd like to know what kind of prices to expect.

Thanks for the help, again. You rock!

The blocks are not that thick in the lifter valley and cam bearing area. They split there and proceed down to the bottom. They talk the girdles up to help the from splitting. Which is a total crock o poop. It just holds ever thing together. Which the intake and oil pan will pretty much do just about as well.

I see.

Well, I'm pretty much sold on the 351, pending a decent price on one in good condition. Do you happen to know about how much this engine weighs?

I may know where to get one and very cheap but it may come attached to a full size van. It has a junked rear end. I think its got around 120,000 hwy miles on it. Its my moms it has been down for a while and she doesnt wanna fix it.She went and bought a new truck to replace it. The whole thing needs tons of work but the engine sounded and ran good when it was parked. I will check it friday when I go to Cleveland again.

That's cool. Just let me know about the van.

As for the weight...OUCH. That's heavy, but oh well. Guess I'll have to get some good springs. lol
