ORIGINAL: 5.0mustang5speed

are those 5.0 really that dam slow..that is not good...i just went from chevy to a ford again..my bone stock s10 with a 350 and 4.11 gears ran 13.50...i had around 500 in the whole motor -tranny, but hey ..i am a ford man by heart..so i came back..why are mustangs so slow..
one you say stock 350. that is so open for debating cause of year and make and model of that motor.

two stangs arent that slow its the drivers. typical 5.0s run mid to low 14s, good drivers with good tires will hit 13s constantly. ppl that cant get good times even with mods need to either sell their cars or let ppl know how ot drive htem teach the owner how to make his or her car perform

Thats very dispuitable. I ran my 87' at the track a month or so ago and I drove that perfectly and ran a 15.5. It has an AOD in it and it runs perfectly. I also have a 93' GT with a bunch of mods and ran a 13.8 on slicks. Stock 5.0s don't run mid to low 14's. The power to weight ratio doesn't even match up close to that. A motor that has 225 h.p. and 300 lbs. of tq. doesn't quite have enough power to make low 14's. A 5 spd might run low 15's with a good driver. Go look up the stats on the 87-93 Mustangs.

are you gusy being aggresive with you car? my buddy ran his 80k mile stang all stock except K&N fitler and ran a 14.3 at 98mph on 225/60/16 street tires. this is up at PRP in Pa. this was only a few weeks of owning the car an first ever car with a stick. if this moron can do it you guys can. get tires and be aggresive

I ran my 87' about 8 times and the temperature was about 80* and ran 15.52. I could prob. pull off a 15.4 or somethin around that. My tires do suck but i wasn't loosing traction down the track. If you guys knew the way I drove than you would know how aggressive I was at driving.
