The '94+ axles are wider than the fox axles.
I read an article in 50 mustang where they did a 5 lug conversion and used 94-98 axles. Ok they are wider, but are they too wide I should not use them with 17x8 wheels with say 245/45/17 tires? Like I said they used them in the article and they said they had no problems. Of course they don't write about it if they did.

You will need to use the rear discs if you use the Mustang axles because the drum will stick out too far from the backing plate and shoes.
Its only a fraction of an inch difference on each side (maybe 3/4?) If you figure out the right backspacing the wheels will fit ok.

Youre welcome. Ive just learned this stuff by reading other topics on this subject on this forum.
Im waiting for a few warm days or a warm garage to do my 5 lug swap. I hate walking thru my garage seeing all the parts sitting there and not being able to put them on because its so cold (-5* now).

Update. I have a salvage yard pulling me spindles, hubs, calipers, and the rubber brake lines for $75.00 a side. I will be picking them up tomorrow.

3Questions--First I know it does not matter if the spindles come from a v6 or a gt, but is there a difference in the calipers between the two?

Also can 13 inch rotors be installed using the stock style caliper, or do I need cobra style calipers to work with the rotors?

I know the gt has 11 inch rotors stock, what does the v6 have? I do plan on at least buying new rotors regardless if they come from the salvage yard, but I don't know what size to buy if I can reuse the salvaged calipers.

I can't wait to get started, thanks for the help in advance

One more thought, if I need calipers and obviously rotors, is there Any reason I can't buy cobra 13" calipers and rotors instead of the 11"? As long as my wheels are big enough they should bolt up?

Will this same swap will work on an '86 model?

V6 and GT's have the same spindles, calipers and rotors.
Mine are off a '94 v6.
Im not sure about the 13" rotors because Im only using the stock size ones.

Youll need atleast 17" wheels.

Only if you swap to '87+ front struts. '94+ spindles wont bolt up to '79-'86 struts.
