4 cyl conv./header clearance prob.

RE: 4 cyl conv./header clearance prob.
Beats me. The mounts looked good, and don't seem to be sagging at all..... I might try replacing them in the near future, but I'm running out of ideas. If all else fails, I'll lower the entire steering system just enough to get clearance. BTW, anyone know what ballpark range I'm looking at for all new suspension on a fox? I've never replaced the suspension on one, the last one I bought had just been changed....

hmmmm. did they line up with the midpipe without any problems? The only time Ive had an issue with a 5.0 swap was whenI tried to use 5.0 shorties for a 351W swap. If the headers themselves arent an issue then the only other things that come to mindare the frame is tweaked or the mounts are bad.

what's considered "normal" for clearance between a steering arm and the header? I don't think the mounts are bad. I've looked them over and even compared brand new ones to the ones on the car and there's no difference. There's got to be something stupid I'm messing up with this.... It can't be that difficult....

You should have plenty of clearance. Are you sure the motor is even centered right? I know I've stuck motors in my 86 and it took a good while to get the motor and tranny centered. If its centered then your motor mounts have to be the problem.

smack a dent in the header or put the stock ones back on. I have long tubes on my notch that Iconverted to 306 and I have plenty of clearance for my steering shaft. I actually had it out this weekend when I was finishing up my harness install.
