Default 86 to 89

Was wondering if the 85 & 89 gt is the same body. I know there both fox bodys but I have a 89 gt with the frame gone in the front. Found a excellent 85 & was going to convert. I want the car to look like the 89. I'm almost positive everything will swap but just wanted some thoughts on it. For example will the rear quater windows be exchageable, front clip, hood & all the interior. Does anyone know any problems I might run into. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

85-86 Are different bodies! The fenders hood front end are all different. Even the quarter windows are different. Are you wanting your 89 to have a 85 front end? I think if you change everything like that the frames are the same. The interior is different to. Different dash, seats console, door panels. Not reaaly clear on what you want but the front end body parts are completly diff!

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I want to just use the unibody chassis from the 85. I want to completely strip the 89 & put it all on the 85, hood, fenders, front clip, quater windows, all the interior etc. I'm just going to use the actual chassis from the 85. Hope this is clearer, thanks.

Look in my sig. It was an 85 v6 before. I haven't switched the dash yet, I dread that like a mother though. I hope to do that next winter. Don't forget to switch the tranny crossmember, you want the double hump from teh 89.

yours was a v6 thats a little different they didnt have the wing on the back and the front bumper was different but the 85 gt should stay an 85 gt if not sell the car and get another 87-93 mustang

The reason I want to use the 85 is because its in excellt shape. The guy now tells me the motor is blown in it. I like my 89 but the frame is gone(rusted out). I cant find a good 87-93 around as I live in NS the province of salt ha ha.
