Default Considering the 95 GT

Hey guys, i was considering buying my friends 95 Mustang GT Convertible, and I had a few questions. From what I can see, the GT only has 223 HP. I hope this is wrong, because then it would only be a little bit more powerful than my hyundai elantra. Ive looked at some rebuilt engines including one from American Muscle sporting a hefty 350HP with 340 ft/lbs of torque. But if im buying a GT i feel like it should be fast. Can someone give me some numbers to reassure me that this is a good buy. Thanx

There is one thing to remember with a 5.0 compared to you Hyndai, the 5.0 has alot more torque. (300 ft lbs I think) and it is fairly cheap to mod and get to the HP and torque your looking for, I say get your buddies car, you won't regret it

ha thanx bro. torque confuses the hell out of me. but ur saying i will be significantly faster? and do u think its a good idea to save up a few grand for the new engine too? its got alot more horsepower, a little more torque, and the engine its running on has 102k miles on it... so... yea...

Dont waste your money on a crate engine with a good head cam intake swap and a good tune you can have a car with over 300rwhp.

Torque is what makes the car move down the road, I would not worry about 102,000 miles, thats nothing for a 5.0, unless it was severely ragged out. You get a taller gear like 3.73 or 4.10s and some bolt ons,(exhaust, cold air induction) and it should move along really well
