Default what's this guy for?

What is this connector for and what is the sensor with the 2 terminals? I found it like this, none of them were connected but car is fine.

I think the sensor is for fluid level or reverse lights but not sure what the connector is for.

That's on the tranny? The sensor beside it, are those wires tapped into that other harness. The housing on that sensor could be broken and they made that so it would work instaed of replacing the sensor. Just an edjucated guess though. It should be for the reverse light.

The two wires come out of the tube with the purple tape around it. The connector feels like it goes into the top of the tranny and definately does not fit over the sensor.
