dude using straight 40..well I WOULD NEVER BUY AN ENGINE FROM YA
sissy.... LOL

i have loose tolerances in my motor to make sure its not gonna freak out on me when spinning the crap outta it. everything is in spec, but on the looser side of the range. if i run 10w30 or 10w40, my pressure at idle is lower than i would like when the car is at operating temps - the straight 40w does good though, i like it

It's pretty cold where I'm at but,I think 5w 30 is too light anyway plus if you have high miles on your car....I guess I should have L@@k into this more take the advice of the other guys like you said because I'm taking there advice to.........LOL!

i also used to have an oil pressure problem. i use straight 40 on my stang and my '94 f150 (also a 5.0). both cars run great. i also have a friend with an '89 gt with 280k miles who runs the same thing.
