what do you guys think?
found out the bearings are crapped out on my V-6, is a shame too, especially since I put alot of work into the topend of the engine... now I am faced with a difficult dilemma
I could go 3 ways...
1. rebuild the old 3.8 and add a few bolt ons and maybe a cam
2. swap out to a v-8
3. sell the car as a project and pick up a new one....
which do you think is the best idea out of those three. aside from the engine, the car is in beautiful shape, solid, good trans, interior is nice except for the carpet and front seats, and it is a t-top car. I just have a few concerns,
1. rebuilding the v-6 seems logical, but I have been told that those engines are basically turds regardless of what you do..
2. a v-8 would be awesome, but my concerns are of the rest of the car. I know the trans is a c4 so it can take a v-8, and a 7.5 can take an esentially stock v8, but will the brakes and suspension take it, I know the v-6 equipment is a bit stronger than that of a 4-banger, but will it take a v8?
3. I dont really want to sell it, I love this car alot, its got nostalgia and charm and finding a semi clean 4eye t-top car is not all too easy these days...
I feel kinda bad, especially since I have written up and down this forum trying to find out info on 5.0s when I cant seem to keep my car's engine from imploding...
If it comes out to be more profitable to sell the car and pick up another one, I'll definetly get another mustang, most likely another fox... I'm just attached to this one , I guess since it is my first
I just need some direction.
thanks

RE: what do you guys think?
thanks for the input, I'll have to get a boat for I can use that 3.8 as an anchor heh...
I'm looking at a used V-8 from mps, that should bolt onto my 3.8's C4? I swear that the bellhousing is the same, butI may be wrong...

2 if you can do it cheaply, 3 if you cant, not 1 because a Ford V-6 is a waste of time.

lol the essex v6 was buick's design, same 3.8 as in the GN and same motor that has powered just about every GM car, not to mention alot of ford and mercs
