I'll probably have to run some SeaFoam through it to clean up some of the varnish on the bottom end.

main crank bearings have 4 bolts holding the caps to the to block rather than just the standard 2 bolts.....makes the setup a lot stronger.

actually it doens't smell at all...that mold is from a bit of condensation in the interior over the winter. The car was stored outside and covered with snow.

I've thought about putting an LS1 in my stang but I'm just nervous about getting the speedometer and tach and all that working correctly. I'm also curious as to how the transmission would line up (so the shifter comes to the right spot) and what to do about a driveshaft.

It's all a bit of a pain but all of the issues can be overcome. I'm using an automatic so its just a simple cable to get it working. If its a manual tranny then its a bit more work to hook up the clutch. dimensionaly, the trannys are similar ase ford and chev used the same transmisions (T-5).

If the tach can not be adapted I will just splice in an aftermarket one. The spedo cables are very similar. The drivexshaft is one of the minor issues...A machine shop can fab one up relatively easy..$200-$400...of course i'm ganna try it myself first and when it vibrates too much i will get a real one fabbed.
