ORIGINAL: tmajikman

I have never driven my stang with anything less than 3.73's, only 5.0 I have ever driven, are stock gears that bad.
imagine how much slower you would be if you started in 2nd then shifted to 4th, probably something like that

Gears ARE amazing .

I can't accelerate too hard in fifth or my motor pings [:@]. I gave my 3.73s about 10 miles before I let 'er rip. Break in is more to make sure that they were installed correctly than anything else. I've got about 2,000 miles and 20 strip passes and mine have held up well .

Here is one from the other side.
I have 3.73 in my basically bolt on 93. I want to swap them out for a tall set. Either 3.08's or 3.27's. I don't like the rpm on the highway. It may have saved me from a few speeding tickets.

Has anyone ever compared et of a relatively stock Mustang with 3.08's to 3.73's? Without a sticky tire, I'm not sure it would be any quicker.

Definitely, thanks ckyguy68 for hooking me up. After the trip to work this morning on the highway I'm even happier I went with the 3.55's. I was at 2500 rpms at 75mph. I don't know if I'd want to be much higher than that all the time.
