Default Idling problems with a 383 stroker

Engine is a fully built 383ci stroker with 0.560 lift and 110 lobe.. 825cfm demon carb with mechanical 2ndary... trying to fine tune in the carb but what keeps happening is the car idles for about 10-15 secs at around 1000rpm, moves up to 1200rpm by itself then just takes a sh*t...

Tried playing round with the fuel regualator but no luck.. We were thinking it was the 255lph fuel pump not wired correctly.. Do u guys have any idea to what this could be?

i'd check the vac and the timing

You aren't using a fuel injection pump on a carb are you? That may be one of your problems.

Well this is a friend of mines motor.. He bought it fully built and told me it was a 383 :/ Anyway, I was thinking there was probably a vacuum leak, originally the car was EFI turned to carb. Firstly he had a 302 block installed, disconnected one of the fuel lines to run the fuel through one line to reach the carb, so now the other line is just hanging there open. I had told him this may be the problem but he assured me it was deleted for sure asno fuel comes out of it..

and when it comes down to it, I'd just like to say, I've learnt ALOT more of this forum then I have with any chevy forum I've ever visited. I love the back to fundamentals approach to modding. No bull**** what so ever!
