i cant remember what the numbers are.

if the valve covers look like that then it's an M motor.

also, here are some other ways to tell. It had an integeral front timing cover "hood" that was cast as part of the block, and utilized a stamped cover for the timing chain. The second feature was cooling related. The thermostat was located in the block, on the timing cover top. Hence, coolant exited the heads, into the block and then on into the radiator. nalso. if you take a valve cover off and the valvesare canted and not inline like a 5.0 head thenit's a M motor.

thats not true. it would be like me saying the iroc 350's were terds. and u and i wont get into that again. like frdmstng said they are great motors, any motor that can use cleve heads will become a great motor.

For your sake I hope it isn't a 351/400M, the M motors are turds [sm=bangbang.gif]
So what you're saying is I can use eithier the 351m IF IT IS... or 351w right? if not someone please tell me what's needed if it's a 351m. And someone please answer my question ... WHAT NUMBERS TO RUN FROM THE BLOCK???

I'm not saying they weren't reliable...they just aren't exactly great for performance applications.

if its 351m-400 I guarantee you will be like a dear in headlights trying to use it. Just look and see if the timing chain cover is casted as part of the block or if its aluminum and removeable. If its aluminum then its a windsor. Really simple. OR is the thermostat housing casted into the block? If so its a 351m-400

HUH!?!?!? The motor is complete heads, cam ,intake mani and all. All I have to do is pull my old one out, put this one in, and go. That's what's on the motor... EVERYTHING

I suppose, but they're meant to be down-low torque monsters meant for hauling, hence their low 8:1 compression ratio.. You can't really rev them much.

OH SNAP!!! DUDE THAT LOOKED JUST LIKE THE ONE I WENT TO GO SEE!!! THE Coil was in the same damn spot too!!!... I'm going to go over there at lunch time and go grab some numbers to make sure I'm not on my way to another screwing.... Will that bolt up to my T5 tranny?
