HO bird
as I contemplate the fate of my stang and its potential replacment if I am able to sell it, I came across another infamous 5.0 and that is the 5.0 T-bird. is the 5.0 motor in a 93 t-bird the same HO 5.0 found in the Mustang? if it is so, will a mustang CIA, computer, aftermarket intake (I know exhaust wont fit) and the like fit onto the larger car?
either way I'm looking for a fast V8, and I know those 5.0 t-birds and cougars can haul a$$

actually a t-bird is a nicer car *ducks and runs*
really, its an excellent ride to mess with. and yes, any mustang engine mods would work on a t-bird too. (heads, cams, intakes, etc)

just FYI, the CAI would have to be the sn95 style because the 5.0 birds used the same upper intake that the 94-5 5.0's used. used to have a 92 sport myself with a 5.0 in it. great car, really dependable, never let me down or left me stranded. much more cofortable ride then a mustang. but they are slower because they werent light. also, the computers are different then mustangsbut they do respond pretty well to mods. all in all those MN12 t-birds are areally good car.
if youre hoping it will be close to as fast as the stang you are a little mistaken. they are a high 15 low 16 sec quarter. the independent rear suspension leaves a little something to be desired for drag racing.

they are great cars i would take a 5.0 over the 3.8 sc those blow head gaskets like its their job and they have so much electrical stuff to go wrong. but i love the adjustable suspention they have with the irs ride so nice. those 3.8's are faster than the 5.0 but i still spanked my bosses 3.8 sc big time

I didnt know they had an IRS...
can those be converted to a solid axle or can a cobra unit be bolted in under there?

www. tccoa .com is a place to check out for questions on the mn12 birds. they helped me out alot in the past.
sweet thanks.
I saw a nice Bird on auto trader that I thought was nifty looks like it has lowering spring on it.., would be a good alternative to a mustang with cheaper insurance. as for the weight, there is got to be a way to strip a couple of hundred pounds out of those things,
i.e. delete AC, aluminum heads, aluminum radiator, intake, delete smog equipment (know a good mechanic
), aftermarket seats, ditch rear seat and
maybe a fuel cell...

hell for any kind of street / DD type of car i'd leave the IRS alone, it does handle quite well. i had an 89 thunderchicken and then an 89 cougar.... both were nice cars, but when they restyled them they were even better.
