whistles like a bird, my manifold. SOLVED!!
so the last week i have been fighting this stupid whistle that i believe is coming from the upper intake where it bolts down to the lower part. i have taken it on and off about 6 times and it still is whistling!! i have gotten new gaskets and gasket sealer and followed all the directions i could read about it.
i finally broke down and took it to my mustang guy. the TPS's spring is broken = new one, the labor for the vac leak and maybe a new gasket costs money. i figure im in about 150 bucks to fix what it. i took the stupid manifold off to tighten my valve cover screws and it turns out that i was not worth it! haha.
while it has the manifold off should i have him toss in a cam for an extra $350 + cam cost?

If you've already got the top end off, might as well go the extra few steps to remove and replace the camshaft. It will save heartache, money, and time in the future.
i have had all the same stuff on there for a year and when i took it off i did not change much of anything. that is the only thing that i can think of, the manifold. all vac lines are plugged in and the TB never whistled proir to taking it apart. i know sometimes air can make that whistle but it seems like it has a leak some where because the whistle goes a way and it does not perform like it ought to.

Have you sprayed starting fluid where the upper and lower meet to see if the idle surges? That is the best way to find a vac leak.

But that is a great way to search for vacuum leaks. If that isn't quite working and you're brave, then you can get a bottle of propane and a tube and place the tube in areas of suspected leaks. Don't blow yourself up though!!
