Dyno Questions.
Hope I don;t sound too stupid here but...
Couple dyno's in the area and heard some talk at a "cruiser" gathering about getting my car dynoed and tuned.
My car is mostly stock, exhaust, CAI, gears, Spec III clutch, subframes, nothing too fancy.
One of the guys was talking about his 95 that he had tuned and he got an extra 15-20 rwhp. I can't rmemeber exactly right off hand. But from my understanding was the SN95 5.0's weren't nearly as "tunable" as the 4.6 because of the lack of being able to connect a programmer.
If I do get mine dyno tuned, what will they be doing to it, and is there any ballpark number I can assume from it? I would request more performance but not take away too much of my already low gas-mileage. Since I do drive this car quite a bit. If I can gave a decent amount while loosing a a couple MPG, I would definatly do it, but im not dropping to 10 MPG while gaining 10 hp, you know.
Any info is appriciated!

RE: Dyno Questions.
i dont know if getting YOUR car tuned will do you any good. you just have bolt ons and no aftermarket cam. in my area (so. cali) a dyno tune can cost 800 to 1000 bucks. wait untill you get some serious mods. i THINK all they would do in your case is mess with the air/fuel ratio and stuff. there is A TON more to it than i know so anythink i say is not for sure. take that 800 dollars you would use to get a tune and put it towards a vortec, then get it tuned. or just save it.

Well.... My friends parents have a dyno at their shop and their about to Dyno his soon I think too he got a procharger, DSS short, X303, methanol, all kinds of stuff. So Im thinking they may give me a "free" tune. I have spent almost a grand there this winter and he was always saying they would prolly throw mine on it if they were doing his at the same time. So with that will this be worth kissing *** so I can get mine on the dyno?

well i wouldnt count on a free tune unless they are giving you a free chip to go with it since thats how most shops save the tune they design for you. if its free go for, but if it costs anything at all, i wouldnt bother with the mods you have. it would be nice if you can at least run your car to see how much its making so you have something to compare it to after you do a bunch of mods and need a dyno tune

Yeah I understand that. But I mean what will they be tinkering with. I odnt think they do any chip work or anything. Will they just be messing with my fuel/air ration, I don't think theres much else to do. And it'll be nice to get a true baseline of what my car is doing.
