Like previously stated, you can't just "switch" the firing order. Most 302 components are interchangable, so all those mods could still be on a non-HO motor. That's why your car is "gutless."
You need to change the cam, dizzy, and a few other things to give it the HO firing order.

Would the motor run if he actually had an HO motor, but the previous owner switched the plug wires around to the non-HO firing order? Try and switch the plugs wires around to the 13726548 firing orderand see what happens maybe. Just an idea.

Your lookin at the wrong spot on the block. If I remember right the casting number should be right below the drivers side cylinder head towards the firewall on the side not the back of the block. I could be wrong but I think thats where its at.

1--All you need to change the firing order is cam lifters and pushrods. 2--The disty is interchangable between ho and non ho motors. And depending on the year of the will depend on the compression. Mid 70's 302's will be the most gutless as they usually have the lowest compression ratio.

2--How is a dizzy interchangable between 2 motors w/ different firing orders???? Again, not even close.

all you need to change the firing order is the cam.the crank has nothing to do with it.the only reason the cam changes it is because of the placement of the lobes on the cam which changes which valves open and shut and at what time.yes thedizzys will interchange. the only difference between a ho dizzy and a non ho is the gear on the bottom. ho is steel and non ho is brass. the dizzy doesnt control firing order you can put the wires where you want to make work

As was previously stated, the differencs in the cams is what controls what firing order the engine must have. The cranks would be similar spec between HO and non HO engines.
vtecwho: nice rims on you car, do you mind if I ask what they are?
