Default subframe install question.

hey, ive got a question about installing subframe connectors. when i raise my car on our two post lift, the chassis sags so much that i cant even open my doors. i dont want to weld in my subframe connectors when the chassis is already flexed that much. but when the car is on the ground its too low to get under there and weld. so what you guys think. how should i do it?

its supposed to be done on a drive-on lift, like an alignment rack.

When I did mine, I had the same issue. I jacked the subframe up to the car, and with out lifting the car BTW, I welded them from the outside, did that to the other side, then put it up in the air and welded the inside up.

use ramps in the front and jack stands in the back

or get some 6 ton jack stands and use those in all 4 corners, it shouldbring ittoabout 18-24 inches off the ground its what my friend did

you cant use jackstands, thats the wrong way to do it. the car must be supporting its own weight, you can't lift anything off the ground. must be done on an alignment or driveon lift, or use 4 ramps. the wheels and suspension cannot be in any other position other than normal stance.

If it is on ramps in the front and on jackstands on the axle in the rear, it would be just like it is on the ground. As long as it is sitting level.

not really. a jackstand under the spring area of the axle is going to compress the spring a tad more than it would if the upper force was created by the wheels on a ramp.

I used 2 jackstands in rear and drive on ramps for the front. They been on there 8 years now and I see no problems.

Considering there aren't any springs on the axle, I don't think it would make a difference.....I think we are just splitting hairs.

I got an idea, just get 2 sets of rams and all will be good...Or how about dig a ditch under you car so you can get under it, then you would be perfect.
