Maybe it is running lean, when was the last tune up, and have you checked the tps and made sure it is set to .098 volts. Just some thoughts. My car was running a bit rough and I did some of the thing mentioned above and my car runs much better.
my last tune-up was just a few thousand miles ago.

i know my tps is out of adjustment but i can't set it because i can never get a reading off it.

what setting on the multimeter am i supposed to use??

thanks man!

Your balancer might of walked on itself. If the marks are in the wrong spot then setting your timing there will cause engine knocking.

if your retarding timing it will not knockif it wasn't b4 , you can retard until the dizzy stops and you'll never get knock

i would make sure your wires are separated and your not getting a false reading from another cylinder

and this might sound dumb , but you are removing the SPOUT b4 changing right ?

DC under 5 volts or anything somewhere near that.

just dc will work, you need a digital voltmeter , are you piercing the leads good ? i use safety pins under the sheath, you can pull it back and then cover it back up later

I like to hit the balancer with some 220 or so grit sandpaper. Gets all the crap off and you can usually see it just fine after this, but put some chalk on it for even easier reading

+1... This has to be unhooked before you can adjust the time properly....

There is a tech article in the stickies on doing your timing. Read over it real quick and just make sure that your doing everything correctly. Just a though.

Doubt that, the balancer has a keyway and will only fit on the crank "key." That would have to somehow snap off (next to impossible) for the balancer to walk. 2kwik has a good point though
