blown head gasket????????
94 GT 100ish miles on motor
8lb of boost
cruisin down the highway and then temp gauge flew up so i shut down the car pull over. antifreeze all over. no leaks from hoses or any other external parts. fill radiator start car and coolant sprays out of the radiator like a hose. i thought if it was a head gasket it is just supposed to bubble out but this sprays hard. no oil looks to be present in the antifreeze and there is no a/f on the dipstick.
what are your opinions on this problem??????????

RE: blown head gasket????????
I would say a pretty safe bet that is a head gasket. There wont always be oil in the coolant, because the gasket could be blown between the coolant and cylinder. The oil passages still be sealed.

RE: blown head gasket????????
happened to me as well, blew the damn overflow hose off and sprayed out all over. I filled the rad and ran the car for another hour but the temp was normal, no bubbles in coolant, no white smoke from exhaust, no sweet burning coolant smell. AFAIK itmight havebecomevapor locked? When I refilled the rad it was trying to puke it back out the top until the stat opened up then it all flowed again and no problems.

Umm im not a rocket scientist but if its coming out the cap isnt the cap bad! Could also be a stuck thermostat. If the gasket was blown between cylinders you would be getting white smoke out the exhaust.

RE: blown head gasket????????
I haven't had a chance to look yet, but I believe the intake is lifting or the gaskets are blown and when the boost hits it's pressuring up the cooling system through there. When I idle the car all is fine and normal. No sweet smell, bubbles, oil in coolant/coolant in oil, doesn't overheat. But when I hit boost the damn coolant tries desperatly to escape from everywhere. So before you get too excited about head gaskets, check your intake. Make sure it's torqued to spec. I am taking mine off and getting new gaskets (it's carbed so it's a simple job). Then we'll test it again and see what's up.
