when i drive my89 GTit will stall out for no reason. i floored it playing with my friends mustang and when it got to about 4k the motor just died. yesturday it threw a check engine light and went away. hooked a snap-on computer up to it and shows no present or history codes. idles fine runs fine except it stalls for no reason. could it be my distributer taking a ****? got a MSD blaster coil and MSD cap and rotor button. new resistor on the side or the distributer. after it stalls i can smell gas, not heavily just lightly. no hoses are leaking and no fuses are blown. any suggestions?

 

explain this to me more. was it under a hard acceleration or normal driving. afyer the car shut off did it sputter then catch up or did you have to crank it again.

 

it will do it both way's, when i floor it or just sit at idle or just cruise. it's a 5 spd not auto. tried unhooking the battery to clear anything and did nothing cleaned off the motor to see if the pollen got to it and didn't change a thing. has a new fuel filter spark plugs and wires put in about a month ago. the car would die and then i would crank it right back up like nothing happened. a couple times i could drive and nothing would happen then it would stall. no pinging noises coming from the motor.

 

you may need to check your mass air sensor and make sure its clean and plugged in good.

 

im gonna clean it tomorrow at work. with some electrical cleaner see if that might help.

 

ok i cleaned my MAF and it still does it. i think it might be the wiring harness. my friend said that they have a tendency to go out and i can actually see why he would say that. **** just stopped working it starts funny.

 

does car do this while idling to?
