I heard you have to change your gear carrige for 4.10, dont you have to use 4 series carrige for 4.10's and I heard its like 800 bucks for the carrige, If so since i have 3 series carrige ill get 3.90 gears, though I heard they wine.
I don't know why people keep saying that because it's BS!! I bought a stock 8.8 rear from under an 89LX that had 2:73 gears, took it to a shop and told them to install my new 4:10's.
It was done with NO problems and I DID NOT buy a new carrier. The only other thing I bought was a trac-loc rebuild kit for $50 and told the guy to rebuild the trac-loc while he was at it.
I had the new 4:10's installed and trac-loc rebuilt for $256
Again....I DID NOT BUY A NEW CARRIER......end of story.
If you want the 4:10's...get them and they WILL fit without a new carrier.

According to a GEAR CALCULATOR I can do 113 at 6000rpms.
65mph for me is about 3500 rpms

Everyone gets different results. I've seen a .5 difference in just gear changes alone....and I've seen only a couple tenths.
Lots of variables to account for

4.10's are A-OK on a 5speed
I drive around 30-50 miles per day and my gas mileage isnt suffering.
It's not as bad as most think, and I'm actually surprised so many people are finally agreeing with ya on the 4.10's

I say go for it, it's a very fun gear
I made a post about my rpm's @ certain speeds with my 4.10's a while back... not sure on the name of it but it was either in the General Tech section or the 5.0 one.
If you care to try and search for it.

I pulled about 2,300 rpm with 3.73's in my AOD in overdrive with a 26" tire. Still think they're the best overall gear for general street and highway driving, but that's just me!
