Default junkyard transmissions

are there any transmissions that you can find in junkyards or auto salvage places that i can use on a 427 stroker? i know i cant use my t5 so whats a relatively cheap yet reliable option. I plan on doing some drag racing occasionaly on the weekends so i definately want something that will hold up, any suggestions?

What are you looking for auto or manual? Im sure you could find a c4 or c6 in a truck or something. Maybe find a t5 t56.

powerglide is a 2 speed automatic trans out of gm's alot of bigger ford engines have then bolted on
if you want manual g-force t-5 can handle that as well as a t56 out of a cobra, comaro, vette

You're putting a ton of money into a 500hp 427 stroker then you want to stick junk from the junkyard behind it. Nothing you get from the junkyard is going to hold that kind of power. Be prepared to spend 1500-2500 depending on if you want to use used or new parts.

Don't buy someones used and beat up tranny for that badass 427. First off it will be hard to find what you need. You need the trmec tko 600, it handles 600 ft/ib of torque. you will also need a bellhousing, shifter, clutch of course and a 31 spline that connects to your driveshaft. You will have to modify your crossmember as well. The tranny and bell housing is 2 grand. The driveshaft yoke is like 75. I would get the spec stage 2+ and spec billet steel flywheel with a MGW shifter all in all about $2800
