Default easiest 5.0 rebuild?

I remember reading in a Hot Rod magazine a while back about an all inclusive kit for a 5.0 engine rebuild. It comes with a refurbished block, new crank, rods, pistons, heads, etc. Pretty much all the essentials you need to rebuild a 5.0 engine for reliabillity and a little extra hp. Do any of yall know of the kit or a similar kit for a 5.0 build up? I think it was like 11-1600 bucks. I'd like to order something like this rather than hunting down parts that may or may not match up perfectly.

summit rebuild kits sell for around 900 bucks. include everything, pistons, rods, bearings, crank, gaskets, bolts etc... thats not meant for high HP just low to mid HP. if you want a high HP rebuild look into a stage 2 or stage 3 from CHP.

I looked on summit racing.com but I didnt see the specific kit for the 302 engine. Im sure its there but I dont know where to find and view it. What stock parts would need to be reused?? reused block? reused crank? etc.

Anyone know of other kits?

depends on the motor, but when rebuilding ALWAYS replace the piston rings and main bearings. you can keep the crank and rods and maybe even pistons if they are forged and still in good condition. when rebuilding first take apart the motor and inspect the parts for scoring and microcracks. do this with a magnifying glass to each part of course if you are not trying to save money just buy a new kit. though, i would personally just buy a complete engine rebuild kit from summit. order a summit catalog and buy the ford 302 rebuild kit. im looking at the catalog right now and it has a great rebuild kit for 5.0's.

product number SUM-CSUM306KIT

of course i dont think this kit would be a good idea for anything above 400HP.

if you are looking for a heavy duty racing rebuild, go to coasthighperformance.com and look up the 306 engine rebuild kits.

you will have to bore out your stock block if you want to rebuild it with any of the performance kits. IMO when rebuilding replace everything that rotates and moves,
this goes for crank, con rods, pistons, rings, bearings, bolts, all gaskets, rockers, pushrods, valves if you are keeping heads and valve springs.

the summit kit i showed you above it perfect for a 350 HP but NO MORE. they are economical kits made for mild racing and street use. dont expect to be supercharging or running high shot nitrous with that kit. But again 350 is perfectly fine. as far as fuel goes, with any 5.0 producing more than 300 horse you need to upgrade to 24 lb/hr injectors, buy a new recalibrated MAF for the 24's and i would also get an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. i have a kirban regulator and it rocks. the regulator can be bought on ebay for around 80 bucks WITH the gauge and schrader valve adapter as one set. the 24# injectors can be bought at summit for around $220. keep your fuel rails, oh and one more thing you might need a bigger fuel pump, go with a walbro 150 lph. www.jdsperformance.com sells those pumps at a good price. with those mods youll be smoking beemers no question asked .... I was too lazy to read the above posts, but Summit sells new 5.0 engines and performance packages to best the LS1 engine, all for a pretty decent price.
