new possible problem

Default new possible problem

so last night I was driving and I realized that my car was about to over heat...I was like what the fug so I pulled over and the it started to smoke...I was like wtf now so I popped the hood and their was antifreeze all by the engine...well I put in about 1 1/2 gallons of antifreeze and a gallon of water to get back to base...I looked at it again and everything seemed fine the antifreeze stayed non leaked out...I don't get it what would cause this????is it a problem???

see if you can tell where its coming from. on my dads truck it was coming from the intake manifold gasket. sometimes it wouldn't leak, and sometimes it would leak more than othertimes.

thanks when I lifted the hood it was all over by the engine everything near the radiator was clean...how much $$$$$ of a problem could it be?

if its head gasket? aloooooot of labor, if its intake... couple hours of do it yourself labor.... i wouldnt get into it until its for sure leakin from there... run a pressure check and see if it holds, if you can

also if it is a head gasket it may be leaking into your cylinders and you can't see the leak with the pressure tester. also if it is doing this your exaust will be white and check your oil and see if it has water in it. good luck

was the anti freeze near the firewall of the bumper? my friend had a leak on the back of the manifold where the original hose came from to the throttle body, since it is bypassed the nipple was capped off with a rubber stopper but it broke and coolent was every where me and him stayed up till 1:30am on a school night fixing the thing and had to get up at 6. Like everyone else said do a leak down test and when u crank it look for white exhaust if u have it its a head gasket

pull your plugs and do a compression check..... see how plugs are firing, make sure there all dry... do all this after running your car for a lil bit.... (makes it hard to work with hot motor but is most accurate i beleave)
