Default stock ford gears vs. frpp gears

is there any real difference between stock ford 3.73 gears and frpp 3.73 gears...i can get a set of 3.73 gears for super cheapbut they are stock ford gears...is it worth it?

I never realized that any Ford vehicles came with 3.73s. I never looked into it that much, but in the vehicles I have seen I've never seen 3.73s.

I used to work at a Ford dealership, I asked my buddy behind the parts counter about it. Apparently they don't work..
Sam- they come in trucks and suv's, mainly.

I've seen people selling used gear sets out of explorers and I think F-150s in 3.55 and 3.73 ratios. People buy them with the intent to put them in mustangs.

thats what i intend on doing just wondering if they would be any different than the frpp's...im gonna do the install myself so the easier the better...ive herd the frpp's go in the best

Ahh that's cool. never knew that. You know, I just recently sold my Explorer but never did any real work to it so I never bothered to see what the gears were in it.

well it has to been the same rear end size, it could be 3.73 but for a diff size, if the sizes are the same and the gear ratio is the same i dont see why it wouldnt work. i know someone has to know for sure if this works or not

the listing says its for and 8.8 inch rearend from a ford explorer...i sent him another message to get some specs on the explorer like year and all that...we'll see what he says
