Check on your rear diff cover and see if the tag is still there. It is an aluminum tag with #'s on it.Also check and see if the sticker is still on your door it has it on there. It gives you a number then you cross refrence.

well if it was 87-93 it would have the t5 in it, most likeley 3 08 gear ratio... there should be a tag on the pumpkin cover (usualy) but if theres not then you can count the revalutions the drive shaft makes while turning the tire one full turn, thats kinda gonna give you an idea on your ratio..... if all else fails pull cover off and count teeth

look at the decal on the driver's door and you will see more info than the VIN, the tranny codes and rear end gear codes are listed below the VIN, get those and maybe I can tell you what you have. In 1988 the codes are these: the eighth digit is the engine code with A= 2.3 L OHC EFI; T= 2.3 L EFI turbo; 4=3.8 L EFI; F= 5.0 EFI; E=5.0 EFI HO (plus); G= 5.8 VV
under AX is the axle code where 8 or M = 2.73 gears; Y or Z = 3.08; F or R = 3.45; 5 or E = 3.27; 6 or W = 3.73; 2 or K = 3.55 and 8, Y, F, 5, 6, and 2 are non locking rears. under the TR is the tranny code where A or W is a 5 speed and L or T is an automatic.
