it shouldn't change barely at all after you put the spout back in. the spout simply allows the CPU to change the timing for the RPM curve, when you remove it your setting the base timing. if its really changing that much, i'd say your setting it wrong.

uhh no, set your base timing where you want it, like 10-12 degrees BTDC, then when u plug it back in, it will stay there, and wont go below it.

Engine idling +
SPOUT off = Initial mechanical seting
SPOUT connected = 20° - 26° and varying
if it stays at the initial SPOUT connected = there are problems in the ECM/wiring/TFI/......
