Default How to change my clutch

Hey guys,

about a month ago I got me a 91 stang, 5.0, 5 Speed and I think the clutch is gone. The car won't start unless it's jumped and it doesn't take gear very well. Is there a guide or something somewhere that has pics on how to do this?

clutch being bad has nothing to do with it not starting... try to fix that problem before you go guessing at whats wrong

The car won't start if the clutch isn't engaged. That's why I feel it's the clutch.

could be out of adjustment, the cable that is, low tranny fluid.... Maybe you need a new battery first. The whole car does run off a computer, like adder said, find out why it has to be jumped all the time first.

I am having a problem with my clutch as well. Check all your guages first and make sure they are in the normal range. My car wouldn't start and it was the alternator that went.

clutch safety switch, mine was broken when i bought my car. its a stupid little part under the clutch pedal. the car works perfectly but since that isnt making contact it thinks the clutch pedal is not depressed. change that and she'll start right up

Yeah, I thought it was this as well, so I got a brand new battery installed, but that didn't help.

Thanks nseoi, I think this may be why it isn't starting. Let me give this a try and see what happens.

I'm going to love this Forum.

Is that the little white box that has something looking like a cigarette sticking out of it? THe cigarette looking thing was pushed out of mine and it wouldn't start but when I pushed it it would. I went to Kragens and they say that I have to goto a ford dealer to get that part, is this true? I kind of hooked it up to where it is always pushed in but, the car still stalls out every so often and some people say it's that, but it only stalls like once a month and takes about 30 minutes before it starts back up.
