Air in the system? Did you get all the air out?

When the motor is cool! Take the radiator cap off and if its low put some in it, then start the car with the cap off and let it run for about 5-10 min (it will need to get to normal operating temp!)! as the air comes out the fluid will go down just keep topping it off until it stops going down. When your done make sure your over flow has water in it up to the line that says hot and that should be it!

well i tried it just now. But when it gets to the temp the thermo is supposed to open at, the temp goes from around 190-195 to about 220 in about a second. Also, the water in the radiator starts to to sorta churn when this temp jump happens. i turned the car off when it fot that high... what the hell is goin on.

Is the thermo in correctly? The spring goes towards the engine, Ive seen plenty put them in backwards. When i put mine in a punch a lil hole in one side with an awl (some thermos have holes, some dont). I do thisto help any air bubbles thru. Some say i dont need that hole but its there. Hasnt hurt anything.

What does the inside of the radiator look like? Are you using a 50/50 mix? Check your oil, make sure its not milky or anything. Theres no reason why your last engine couldnt have added some oil into the coolant. Did you reuse your old thermo? It may be sticking.. How old is your waterpump? Double check the lil hole under it and make sure its not leaking.

checked the oil for antifreeze and its perfect. No antifreeze whatsoever in the oil. I cant see what else is wrong. Is there a way to test the water pump to see if its bad?

You getting bubbles in your radiator or is it filling your overflow with you cap on?
