silly but did you remove the inlet piping and Throttle bracket? If all upper bolts are removed slide a thin flat head between the upper and lower..and GENTLY pry.

I am assuming this is in reference to the stock intake. You may have to persuade it a bit. With the years of gunk and varnish acting like cement plus the upper to lower gasket that has seen many heat cycles, they can be a bitch to remove. Get a rubber mallet and hit it all around the edges. Some WD40 will help also. Once you get a loose side, use a flat blade screwdiver as a wedge.

mine required a huge rubber mallot, which i didnt have, so I used a brick wrapped in an old towel

This should be obvious but try not to drop anything into the open intake holes. Youll hate yorself for it. I covered mine with duct tape.

That's exactly what I did too. Every time I have it off I cover it with duct tape. If you drop a screw or something down a runner then it's all over. time to rip apart the top end and go fishing.

IF something like that ever happens your first step is one of those extendable magnet thingys they sell at the counter of pretty much all auto parts stores - we've all had to go on "fishing" trips at one point or another
