^ you guess correctly my friend

I'll back off em and retorque

it says 106 in.lbs

Is that about 16 ft. lbs ?
You will probably want to get new gaskets too. Also double check to make sure that the covers aren't warped.

Another thing that's easy to miss... When you installed the gaskets and used RTV did you make sure to seal off the area around the edge of each of the bolt holes or did you just go around the other edge of the valve covers? Often people will just go around the edge not realizing that oil can easily seep over or under the gasket and get to the bolt. It never reaches the RTV that they placed around the outer edge of the valve cover because it seeps in past the inner edge and down the threads of the bolts.

It's hard to explain what I mean..but I'll try to use a cheezy graphic.

Lets say were just looking atone of the long edges of the valve cover. Instead of sealing it like this with RTV:

Seal it like this:
__O________O

Hopefully that explains it better. basically, just make sure you seal aroundthe hole that the bolts pass throughand then torque it down to specs. That will fix your problem.

Oh, and don't feel too bad about it, lol. I know you're not the only person who has made this mistake in the past. Been there done that. hell, that's how I learned most of the stuff I know about cars. because I F'ed it up alongthe way and learned from my mistakes And now you too can pass along the knowledge gained from being a dumbass like I was.

I did go around the bolts, but i'm pretty sure they are much past torque specs.

Its not leakin too bad, but bad enough to where it burns on the head/header and smells bad. I'll get around to it in the next few days here. I just wanna focus on getten her to run good first.
