researched and frusterated...cam and 1.7RR
with my mods listed below, i have wanted to do a cam switch soon. i have been looking and calling places such as lunati, comp, summit and i have heard mixed reviews on all this shiz!
i have 1.7 RR, STOCK pistions. i have heard that you can not have a bigger lift than .530 MAX with stock pistions.
comp cams said 1.7 RR will NOT work with a E 303 or crain cam that is identical to the e 303. crain cams part number for the e 303 replica is crn 444231 at summit.
i have heard that the tfs 1 cam is out of the question, but i have heard that so is the e 303 with stock pistions. im very suprised that this is so subjective. its math, i did not know there was more than one right answer to a objective math problem!! haha.
please shed some light on my cam delema and feel more than free to make suggestions, just make sure your not guessing! haha
thanks
Eric

That is what I have been told also. Excepts it was due to spring binding issues, not piston clearence. I got 1.6's to be safe with my cam wich has .530 lift. I should know by later today if there will be any probs. I am doubting it, plus think that I could have possibly used 1.7's.

yea, let me know. i dont think the e 303 is too much its 282/282 (i think) and .498/.498 with 1.7 RR the lift is .529125. it seems that it would work because the most is .530000with stock pistions, however, i have had "experts" tell me other wise.

you can go with the B303 and run 1.7RR. The1.7s will give you close to the same amount of lift as 1.6RR and the E303 cam, but you get more duration. If your into that kind of thing... But I've seen the E303 work with 1.7s on a stock short block.

the 1.7's and a stock cam lift is like .468 I THINK OFF TOP MY HEAD....if you have to pass smog then a single pattern cam is about it for you....I believe the e-cam is smog legal and has a C.A.R.B #

oh yea, i did know that. i meant that i did not know what it does for the engine. why is the b cam different from the e cam, power wise? what does lift give you and what does duration give you interms of power?
